Hello and welcome! I’m so glad you’ve found your way here to MmeBluestocking — a little online nook I’ve created for fellow lovers of words, wonder, and creative living.
I’m Melisha — writer, poet, book-binder, ceramic artist, herbalist, beekeeper, tea-drinker, yarn-hoarder, and nature-wanderer. I studied English literature and language (because I couldn’t stop reading), and later completed a master’s in computational linguistics (because I’m endlessly curious about how language works). That mix of poetry and logic has always followed me around — and somehow, it all spills into what I write here.
But alongside the books and words, my hands are always busy making. Whether I’m shaping clay, tending the hives, blending herbs, stitching a story into fabric, or binding a book by hand — creativity is how I process the world. It’s earthy and poetic, tactile and intuitive. Sometimes sticky with honey, sometimes stained with ink.
Why “MmeBluestocking”?
I’ve always had a soft spot for the original Bluestockings — those brilliant, bookish women who carved out space for creative thought and meaningful conversation. MmeBluestocking felt like the perfect nod to that spirit — a name with a wink and a story, for a place that celebrates words, hands, and heart.
What You’ll Find Here
This blog is a bit like a patchwork quilt — stitched together from all the things I love and live by. Here’s what you can expect:
• Travel Tales – I love sharing stories from places that have stirred something in me — whether it’s a wild coastline, a quiet old village, or a bustling bookshop tucked down an alley. I try to bring it all to life through words, so you can come along too.
• Poetry – I write poems about feelings, seasons, shadows, and light. Some are delicate, some are raw, some are just playful. All of them come from the heart.
• Writing Tips – If you’re a writer (or want to be), I share little nuggets I’ve picked up along the way — from beating writer’s block to finding your voice or simply remembering why you started in the first place.
• Creative Projects – This is where the threads, the clay, the paper, and the beeswax live. I share glimpses of what’s on my table (or spinning on the wheel): hand-bound books, slow stitches, herbal creations, homegrown remedies, and the joy of making something from nothing. I believe creativity is both sacred and wildly fun — and I love sharing the process.
• Herbal & Earthy Living – As an herbalist and beekeeper, I’m deeply drawn to the rhythms of the seasons. You’ll find simple remedies, honey-infused wisdom, plant stories, and rituals for reconnecting with the land and your own inner cycles.
• Reflections – This is the quiet corner of the blog. Here I write about life — the messy bits, the small joys, the lessons, the questions, the tiny miracles. If you’re walking your own creative path, I hope something here will resonate with you.
A Little About Me
I’ve always danced between the logical and the lyrical — numbers and nuance, structure and story. My studies in language gave me tools, but it’s through writing, crafting, gardening, tending bees, and making with my hands that I’ve really learned how to feel my way through things.
There’s something deeply healing about working with clay, plants, yarn, or hives — folding, shaping, weaving, listening. Whether I’m blending herbs for a salve, harvesting golden honey, throwing a pot on the wheel, or writing by candlelight, I’m always trying to make something meaningful — something that connects.
Let’s Connect
More than anything, I hope MmeBluestocking feels like a place where you can breathe out, be inspired, and maybe even see your own story reflected back at you. I’d love for you to read along, leave a comment, say hello, or share your thoughts. This isn’t just my space — it’s a place for anyone who finds joy in the written word, in handmade beauty, and in living gently with creativity.
You can also subscribe to the newsletter if you fancy little letters in your inbox — with updates, musings, and the occasional treat just for subscribers. Or come find me on Instagram for a peek behind the scenes (clay, herbs, bees, and book stacks included).
Thanks so much for stopping by — it truly means a lot. Let’s take this creative journey one poem, one story, one stitch (or honeycomb) at a time.
With warmth and ink-stained fingers
